One Conversation. One Secret. A Truth That Changed Everything.

For nearly forty years, I believed I knew who I was.
Then, a single sentence changed everything.

A casual remark from a trusted family friend, who had once worked in intelligence, revealed a truth I never saw coming. I was led to believe I had been adopted.

Through research, records, and years of searching, I discovered something far more complex. I grew up believing my parents were my biological parents, only to learn there had been no legal adoption at all.

That moment sparked a relentless search across decades and continents.

Along the way, I uncovered a black-market baby-broker network, hidden identities, and disturbing connections that reshaped everything I thought I understood about family and belonging.

What began as an ordinary trip became a life-changing journey to uncover the truth about my past and, ultimately, my identity.

An amazing, riveting, deeply personal journey

When a monumental discovery births an identity crisis of epic proportions, Hochberg launches a quest to discover the truth about her origins. She pursues answers relentlessly, undaunted by the carefully guarded secrets that continually stymie her dogged efforts. An incredible story marked by inspiring determination. - Beth Steury - Indiana - Reviewed January 31, 2026 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I was so completely wrapped up in Connected: Finding My Truth that I had to remind myself at the end of each chapter that I was reading a memoir—not a work of fiction. Diana does a wonderful job sharing the life-altering discovery of her adoption and the emotional, courageous journey she undertook to uncover her birth family and her truth.

Change into your comfy loungewear, grab your drink of choice, settle into a cozy chair, and be prepared for an unforgettable read. This story is filled with lies, secrets, intrigue, spies, and bikinis, taking you from the west coast of Canada across several American states and all the way to Cuba.

A beautifully written book that is incredibly hard to put down.

WOW!! What an amazing story.

Connected: Finding My Truth is a bold, heartfelt memoir about navigating the web of family secrets, power, money, and the ache of disappointment while searching for personal truth. A casual conversation abruptly turns her world upside down, sending her on a lifelong extraordinary journey through decades of deception, truth, betrayal, disappointment, long-buried family secrets, the black-market baby trade, and government corruption. Everything she had believed about herself was lies, and the lies continued as she searched for her truth. As she presses forward to reclaim her identity, the narrative unfolds with a series of twists and turns that test loyalty, resilience, and self-belief, with relatable emotional highs and lows, courage, and self-discovery.

The author does not shy away from discomfort or complexity; instead, she maps the messy process of self-discovery with clarity, wit, and a quiet courage. The prose is taut and observant, catching the small, telling details—the hesitations in a whispered confession, the weight of a shared memory, the moment of realization when a truth finally lands and the stories we have been told do not hold up.

If you pick this up, you will not want to put it down. It is a compelling invitation to follow someone through disruption, persistence, acceptance, and to a redefined sense of self—one that suggests truth is not a destination but a continual process of connection, re-evaluation, reinvention, and finally peace.
